Yesterday the 2010 Cox Plate third declarations were taken leaving just 24 horses fighting for a spot in the final field for the $3 million Group 1 weight-for-age feature this spring.
Scheduled to run at the scenic Moonee Valley Racecourse on Saturday October 23, the 2010 Cox Plate final field will feature 14 of the spring’s best gallopers meaning another 10 will drop out of contention.
Notable horses that were not among yesterday’s third acceptors for the Cox Plate include Lloyd Williams’ Alandi and C’est La Guerre after topweight Alandi was sent home to Europe and C’est La Guerre will be aimed specifically at the 2010 Melbourne Cup on Tuesday November 2.
